Probably not authentic Apple, but seems to work

From what I can tell, what I received is a really good knockoff and probably not an actual Apple charger. However, it seems to be charging my laptop just fine. At first glance, it looks totally legit. But when you look at the serial number under the part that plugs in, it's a poorly attached sticker that doesn't match. Also, the way it was packaged. It came in a plain brown box with a sticker containing poorly-phrased English. The protective plastic on the product was difficult to peel off and left a bunch of residue. Not very Apple-like. Finally, the LED light is not diffused like the one that came with my computer and the light leaks through to the part of the connector that touches the computer.
These things are all aesthetic from what I can tell and hopefully don't indicate a low quality product. For like half the price of a charger bought directly from Apple, this might be a pretty good deal. I'll be sure to update if anything goes wrong.

Seller "PC-Partner" is selling fakes

This product is advertised as Apple, but it isn't. I just returned from my local Apple Store, and they confirmed that this is a fake - a very convincing fake, complete with serial numbers. The give-away is that the cord is made of a different rubber than Apple uses. Other sellers of this product may be selling the real thing (but at $40 vs. Apple's $80 I doubt it). Meanwhile, if your seller is listed as PC-Partner, I wouldn't buy it. This cord stopped working for me after only having it for a month. I just bit the bullet and bought the real thing at my Apple Store earlier today. The guy at the Genius Bar says that a good rule of thumb is that if it's being sold as "Apple" on Amazon, you have no way of knowing if it's legit or not. Assume that your purchase is not official Apple.
